UCONN-SECURE Network
Apple iPhone / iPod Touch
The following step by step instructions will detail how to configure your Apple iPhone / iPod touch to run on the UCONN-SECURE wireless network.
Note: You must be running Version 2 software on your iPhone / iPod touch to connect to UCONN-SECURE.
- Change your NetID password at https://netid.uconn.edu from a wired connection.
Note: If you have changed your NetID later than March 4, 2008 then you do not have to perform this step. This will change your password for ALL applications that use NetID such as your Exchange/Huskymail account and HuskyCT
- Select / tap the Settings icon on the main screen.
- Tap the arrow next to Wi-Fi to go to the Wi-Fi Networks window.
- If your Wi-Fi is off, slide the toggle to the right to turn the Wi-Fi connection ON and wait for it to search for networks.
If your Wi-Fi connection is already on, wait for your device to update the available networks.
- Select / tap UCONN-SECURE. (If UCONN-SECURE does not show up, make sure you are in a UITS supported location.)
- Fill in your NetID and Password and select / tap Join.
Note: Sometimes this step takes multiple tries. This is because an iPhone / iPod Touch must try every WPA2 Authentication type before finding a match. Once it tries to authenticate and matches PEAPv0 (MS-CHAPv2) you can proceed.
- Selece / tap Accept the certificate presented by bean.uits.uconn.edu or ender.uits.uconn.edu. Your iPhone/iPod Touch will then join the UCONN-SECURE network.
- Once joined, you will be brought back to the Wi-Fi Networks screen. To verify you have an IP address select / tap the arrow next to UCONN-SECURE.
- Verify you are using DHCP and have an IP address in the range of 67.221.64.0 – 67.221.95.255 then select / tap the Wi-Fi Networks arrow to go back.
Note: UCONN-SECURE is a DHCP only network.
- Verify you have a check mark next to UCONN-SECURE. Select / Tap the settings button to return to the settings section.
- Once connected to a Wi-Fi network, you will see the Wi-Fi icon at the top of your phone.
- Press the Home button on the face / bottom of your device to bring you back to the main screen.
